In today's program we will introduce the deepest and the cleanest lake on Earth — Baikal. Lake Baikal is about 600 km in length. Ice has different patterns in different parts of the lake. It happens because water freezes layer by layer. Especially it is very interesting to find a fish or a branch in the ice.
The ice in Baikal is the most transparent in the world! The water in the lake is so clear that you can see various objects at the depth of 40 meters. In some parts ice is as smooth as the mirror. You can take really nice pictures there with the reflection of sunlight.
Ice is cracking all the time. Cracks happen every year, almost at the same areas of the lake. Small cracks are often followed by a loud crack that reminds you of the thunder or gunshot. Thanks to the cracks, the fish in the lake don't die from the lack of oxygen.
Baikal is the most beautiful place in the world.
