M: Kids in America have often spent their 2-month-long vacations at a summer camp. And the summer camp idea has come to the UK too! At a summer camp, you can join in many exciting and fun activities, try new experiences and make friends.This is one of many outdoor camps which are often in some of the UK's most beautiful and natural surroundings and offer a change to kids from large cities. All ages are welcome and professional leaders know how to look after everyone. Professionally licensed instructors teach a wide range of activities from rock climbing to horse riding, and sometimes specialized activities like modern design or performing arts. There are welcome parties and barbecues as well as sightseeing trips. Kids can go swimming in the afternoon with their instructors. Barbecues can be done near the lake in the evening. Kids may stay from one to four weeks, but the short stay of one weekend is possible, and they return to school satisfied, happy and full of stories to tell. Experiences at the summer camp develop kids' independence and team spirit, and improve social confidence as well as helping kids learn real skills.
