M: You don't look well. Maybe you should take the day off from work.

W: I couldn't do that. I have an important meeting today.

M: Do you feel OK?

W: Not really. After a 12 hour flight, I've got jet lag, and on top of that, I think I've also got the flu.

M: Why don't you call your secretary and tell her to put off the meeting? You should really get some rest or you'll end up feeling even worse than you do now.

W: OK. I'll call my secretary. Zach, what's that on your arm?

M: It looks a bit red, but I don't know why.

W: Let me see. It looks like that you're sunburnt. We'd better go to the clinic and get some medicine. Let's go.

W: Well. There' re actually around 200 kinds of culture collections in this city. That's half of the culture collections in China. There's one exhibition for ancient collections, and several rooms with modern collections for private collectors.

M: Private collectors! They must have excellent collections. I'll go and see each of them. What collections can I see?

W: The collections include precious seashells, drama costumes, ancient coins, minimusical instruments and model ships...

M: Enough! I can't wait anymore.

听下面一段对话,回答第 11 至第 13 三个小题。现在你有 15 秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。

Text 8

M: Good evening, Madam. What can I do for you?

W: Good evening. My husband and I would like a room, please. Is there any room available? We don't have a reservation.

M: Let me see. Yes, we have one room left. You're lucky. It's the last one.

W: Good. We're tired after camping for several days, and were looking forward to relaxing in a comfortable room.

M: This room has two double beds. Its number is 56, at the end of the hotel. It's quite a comfortable room.

W: How much is it for one night? We're going to continue our trip tomorrow morning.

M: Forty-five dollars a night for two. Would you like to pay for the room in cash or with a credit card?

W: A credit card. We don't like to carry much cash with us on our trips. And we would like a morning call tomorrow morning.

M: What time would you like?

W: 7:30 am. Thank you.

M: Alright! A morning call at 7:30 am. Room 56. Anything else?

W: No, nothing else.

M: Please fill out this information card. Here is your key. You can park your bikes in front of our room. And our breakfast begins at 7 am. Enjoy your stay with us.

听下面一段对话,回答第 14 至第 16 三个小题。现在你有 15 秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。

Text 9

W: Wow, this is amazing. I'm glad we've come here. So cool!

M: I always love skiing. You know, it's a cool game for cool people. Stay with  me and you will be cool, too.

W: Hey, look over there. It seems that there is something interesting going on. Let's go and have a look.

M: Sure. It's probably the skiing show. Adam told me there are many skiing clubs whose members put on shows to attract more visitors.

W: It's so dangerous. My mom would never allow me to do that.

M: Hey, don't be so sad. It's an extreme sports show. What else can they do to attract more visitors? Just enjoy the show.

W: You are right. But what if the snow falls down from the mountain?

M: They are all very experienced and great skiers. So I suppose the chance for them to be buried by snow is small.

W: Anyway, the show is breathtaking. By the way, where did they get so much snow here?

M: Don't you know that? Are you kidding me?

W: Not everyone is as lucky as you to have a father who is a scientist.

M: Sorry. Well, they have the most advanced snowmaking machine.

W: Do you think the snowmaking may cause pollution?

M: It's possible. But the boss here said they were doing whatever they could to avoid that.

W: It's a good thing. OK, let's go skiing.

听下面一段材料,回答第 17 至第 20 四个小题。现在你有 20 秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。

Text 10

W:Parking rules are rules for a reason and I'm reminding everyone why it's so important to follow them.

My son, Cary, was born with brain bleeding which leads to difficulties of movement and speech. As a result, Cary uses a wheelchair. A week ago, I was leaving a doctor's appointment with my son when I noticed a car parked over the blue lines of a parking lot, making it difficult for Cary to get into our car. We had to wait for the car owner to come out of the store, who said she didn't know what the lines meant. At the time of his birth, we had no clue to the struggles we would meet with while raising a child with special needs. Sometimes, even people with disabilities don't understand how important it is not to park over the blue lines. And this issue is what we face every day. After talking with many friends and families, we noticed that many people just do not know what those lines are for. My husband and I made the decision to use social media as a way to raise awareness for Cary and his condition. We try our best to be positive instead of blaming people just because they do not know. Our intention is only to remind the public who might not know how important it is to watch the lines when parking. I hope people can be more conscious of their actions and continue helping those in need.
