M: Attention, please, ladies and gentlemen. Our bus’s getting close to Cambridge. We’ll be stopping to eat there. We’ll have our lunch at a garden restaurant overlooking a small park that reminds people of the very famous tree. It’s said the General George Washington took command of the army in 1775 under its very branches. It was almost 100 years later, in 1864, that the city of Cambridge celebrated the event and from that moment on, the tree was called the Washington Elm.Later, the tree was attacked by insects, and finally destroyed in a storm. The remains of the tree were cut down. Well, it seems that if Washington had accepted the command of his army under this tree, he must have done so on his knees. This particular elm couldn’t have been over 3 or 4 years old in 1775. It is a well-known fact that Washington took command under an elm tree, but, unfortunately, it couldn’t have been the famous Washington Elm. Well, enjoy your lunch, and watch the steps as you leave the bus.
